Not much water flowing over the 300-foot Lower Falls in mid-April. As soon as Yellowstone Lake thaws, the Falls will roar all summer.

Thousands of travertine layers! Water flows over orange, green and white cyanobacteria and bacterial mats. The water in Mammoth Hot Springs can exceed 150 degrees and much higher near the vents.
